About Koren

Koren grew up in Stratford, Connecticut, the former home of The Shakespeare Theater, and she has enjoyed performing in various art genres over the years. She performed in many school and community stage productions, and she participated in her middle school and high school concert, orchestra, and jazz bands playing the clarinet, stand up bass, and the electric bass guitar. She also enjoyed  taking dance lessons when her schedule allowed it. After graduating high school, she studied acting at The Soap Set Acting Studio in Milford, Connecticut where she was first introduced to voiceovers. Koren hosted a talk show, “Hora de Cabo Verde” on her local community television station that focused on showcasing local Cabo Verdeans. College, marriage, two children, and life happened, and she ultimately began her career as an educator. 

Koren has earned five degrees. Two undergraduate degrees in computer science and business, and three advanced degrees in education, including a Ph.D. in Leadership in Education. Koren is now a retired educator with 25 years experience as an elementary teacher and principal. Before working in the field of education, she worked in a hospital setting as well as a health insurance company. 

As an avid reader and educator, and with her educational career behind her, Koren has come full circle and naturally decided that she wanted to narrate audiobooks and perform voiceovers. She has a warm, grounding, and reassuring voice. Her educational and work experience make her an excellent choice in executing audiobooks with business, medical, and educational terminology. Koren has hosted and led numerous nonprofit events over the years and enjoys serving as the mistress of ceremonies. She also enjoys narrating corporate and E-learning projects. Her experience working with elementary students makes her a great fit in narrating audiobooks for children. A blossoming polyglot, Koren is a native English speaker, advanced Spanish speaker, and conversational speaker in Portuguese and Cabo Verdean Kriolu.  

When not in the studio, Koren enjoys spending time with her family, volunteer work, playing her musical instruments, reading, writing, taking photos, researching genealogy to work on her family tree, and of course, listening to audiobooks!
